6. | Zebulon Seaman was born 17 Mar 1718; died 19 Feb 1784. Notes:
Zebulon Seaman was in the Assembly at Albany from 1769 to 1775. The Assembly offered a premium for the best linen that the Assemblymen could produce. They had to raise the flax, the wives to spin, and perhaps weave, the cloth. Zebulon raised the flux, Phoebe spun the thread and they took the premium. A piece of homespun linen was preserved by the family for several generations.
Zebulon married Phoebe Valentine (Vohles) 17 Apr 1743. Phoebe (daughter of Obadiah Valentine and Martha Willets) was born 1721; died 4 Aug 1803. [Group Sheet]

8. | Richard Seaman was born 1673, Hempstead, Long Island, New York, United States of America (son of Captain John Seaman and Martha Moore); died 25 Jul 1749. Notes:
Richard Seaman was "a sound minister of the Gospel for many years, having lead a solid and exemplary life from his young days". Friends Meetings were appointed to be held at his house at a time when it took courage to proclaim a religious belief which was not favoured by the political powers. He was a Minister in the Society of Friends and travelled extensively in the service with "a Minute of Unity" from Westbury Meeting. In 1725, he visited Friends in New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia. In 1740, Henry Pearsall accompanied him to visit Friends towards Canada, and in 1745 he was sent on a similar service in the west. In 1692/1693 his father, before making his will, conveyed 315 acres of land at the harbour head to him, and to his brother Nathaniel. He had fifteen children.
Richard married Jane Mott 1693/1694. Jane (daughter of Adam Mott and Mary Stillwell) was born 1680; died 21 Aug 1759. [Group Sheet]
