His will dated Mch. 9, 1802; proved Sep. 18, 1802 (R. L. C, P., 143, Ja.). He was the captain of the Militia Co. of Wolver Hollow, and was at the battle of L. I. with the Co, (see Adriaen Hegeman Diary).
His will dated Aug. 10, 1775 (R. L. A., P., 218, Ja.). He gives to his son William " the Silver Tankard." He appears to have been the first of that name in the Dutch congregation of 0. B. There was a John Laton who filed his " Ear Mark " in Hempstead, Feb. 4, 1766, who may have been William's father.
