- Hiram Akers aged 20, shoemaker, was tried 30 June 1840 at Stafford Quarter Session for stealing trowsers. Embarked 25 May 1841, sailed 7 June and arrived at Hobart 4 Oct 1841.
The arrival date suggests the vessel is the David Clarke, a barque of 608 tons built at Calcutta 1817, with 307 convicts delivered after a voyage of 119 days from Plymouth
Hiram is described as 5 ft 2.5 inches tall, brown hair, hazel eyes, scars on each cheek. He received his Ticket of Leave 17 Nov 1846 and was discharged 30 Jan 1849. In 1843 he was in trouble for possessing tobacco.
Aged 17, tried in Staffordshire, England, imprissoned for 2 months (trial was 1 Jan 1839).
Aged 18, tried in Staffordshire, England, sentenced to transportation, 10 years (trial was 30 June 1840). [2]

- Hiram Akers aged 25 wed 5 June 1849 to Elizabeth Medwin aged 18, both made their marks, in the presence of Edwin Medwin and Mary Atkins at St Paul's Church, Stanley, Tasmania. Elizabeth was a daughter of William Medwin and Elizabeth Sarah Cock. On the same day Sarah Medwin aged 16 wed Robert Latimer 34 schoolmaster with John Medwin as witness. Elizabeth's death is recorded in Victoria 1851 #28482 aged 19, buried from Church of England, St Peters Melbourne [2]
